Rabbi Micah S. Ellenson, a dedicated spiritual leader and educator, passed away at the age of 47 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born into a family deeply rooted in Jewish scholarship and leadership, Rabbi Ellenson continued this legacy with unwavering commitment and passion.
Ordained by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in 2014, Rabbi Ellenson’s journey in Jewish education and leadership was both extensive and impactful.
He began his career as the Director of Congregational Learning at Temple De Hirsch Sinai in Seattle, Washington. In this role, he oversaw a broad spectrum of educational programs, ranging from early childhood education to adult lifelong learning.
His innovative approach and dedication enriched the community, fostering a deeper connection to Jewish traditions and values. In 2017, Rabbi Ellenson accepted the position of Rabbi at Temple Beth David in Cheshire, Connecticut.
His arrival was met with enthusiasm and optimism, as he brought a wealth of experience, warmth, and enthusiasm to the congregation. He expressed his gratitude, stating, “I feel very blessed to come to a community that has so many wonderful things going on.”

Rabbi Ellenson’s dedication to Jewish education was evident throughout his career. Prior to his tenure in Seattle, he served at Milken Community High School and the Stephen S. Wise Temple in Los Angeles.
