Brooke Powell Obituary LeRoy, Illinois: In loving memory of Meeting Place Equine co-founder who died in ‘icy and slick’ road crash on U.S. 136 near 2400 East Road
McLean County Coroner Kathleen Yoder has identified a local woman who lost her life in a Wednesday collision involving a car and a pickup truck.
Brooke E. Powell, 37, was found deceased at the scene. According to Yoder’s preliminary findings, Powell died from “multiple blunt injuries” sustained during the accident, which took place under icy and slick roadway conditions.
The crash occurred on U.S. 136 near 2400 East Road. The pickup truck’s driver was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Yoder confirmed that Powell was the driver and the only occupant of the car.
The Illinois State Police and the coroner’s office are continuing their investigation, with toxicology results still pending.

For those of you have that have been followers for awhile, I am so sorry to say, Brooke Powell, one of the cofounders of Meeting Place Equine, has passed from a car wreck.
She was the inspiration and open gateway for many local young ones to start their horse addictions and had a passion for making horse-related activities accessible. She fiercely defended those that had been ‘othered’ in the horse community.
RIP Brooke, I hope you find your peace.
